Robert Jewel Bob Reynolds 84, of Odessa passed away July 7, 2011 at Sherwood Place. Mr. Reynolds was born March 26, 1927 in Brownwood to Nancy Brown and Jewell Reynolds. He was reared in Brownwood and Sweetwater. He met June Minshew in Sweetwater and they were married there on February 26, 1944. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 17, 1945 and received his Honorable discharge on June 4, 1946. After the war he returned to Sweetwater and rejoined Vandervorrts Creamery, moved to Midland in 1949 and became employed with Bordens Dairy. He joined Phillips Petroleum and moved the family to Odessa in 1951 he retired as a pumper after 35 years of service to the company. Mr. Reynolds was a charter and lifetime member of Temple Baptist Church and a charter member of Life Change Baptist Church. As a young father he became involved in Boy Scouts serving as a scout master in Goldsmith and later in Odessa. He enjoyed working with his hands and crafted many items from wood.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife June who died December 27, 2008 his brothers, Herman Brice Reynolds and George Washington Reynolds his sister Josie Doritta Lackey and great grandson Chase Alan Reynolds.
He is survived by his children: John R. Bobby Reynolds and wife Frankie Lynn of Denison, TX, and Randy S. Reynolds and wife Kay of Odessa, TX Nancy Susan Sanchez and husband Ignacio of San Angelo, TX., and a total of 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Sisters: Ila Ruth Riney and Edna Faye Whitted of Trent, TX.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 11, 2011 at Life Change Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Thomason officiating. Burial with U.S. Navy military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5:00 7:00 PM Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
