Robert “Bobby” Andrew Vasquez, 81, of Marfa, TX, passed away on December 23rd 2024 in Round Rock, TX.
Bobby was born to Roberto and Lucille Franco Vasquez on November 30, 1943 in Marfa, TX. He was educated in the Ector County ISD and graduated from Ector High School in Odessa, TX. He married Carolyn S. Swope on April 9th, 1966 in Fort Worth, TX. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the United States Air Force for 21 years as an aerospace control and warning systems technician. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was involved in the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Upon retiring from the US military, Bobby worked as a state certified purchaser for the State of Texas in Austin where he retired after 20+ years. Shortly thereafter he moved to Round Rock, TX to be closer to his son and granddaughters.
Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Roberto, his mother, Lucille, his daughter, Deborah Vasquez Stanley of Choctaw, OK, and his great-grandson, Rip Gaillard of Perryton, TX.
Bobby is survived by his brother Ricardo “Dickey” Vasquez of Tulsa, OK, his sister Vicki Vasquez Seals and her husband Brian of Rowlett, TX, son Robert “Rob” Vasquez II and his wife Kerry of Round Rock, TX, his four grandchildren; Corrine Gaillard, Adam Stanley, Emily Powell, and Megan Vasquez, and his great-grandchildren; Ashton Powell, and Griffin Gaillard.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Brian Shimkus, Dr. Youngchan Kwon, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital and Hospice Austin.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a rosary service at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, January 7th at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 6801 E. Business 20, Odessa, TX.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 612 E 18th St, Odessa, TX with Father Bernard officiating, followed by the burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Austin at https://www.hospiceaustin.org/.
