Ronald Lloyd Anderson peacefully passed away with his family by his side on July 29th, 2021.
Ron was born in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, July 10, 1954. He is the son of Robert LeRoy Anderson and Mary (Dee Dee) Anderson. He was raised and lived in Des Moines until proudly joining the Navy in 1971. While in the Navy, he worked as a corpsman and was able to travel to many beautiful places. His favorites include Rome, Paris, Naples, Florence, Venice, Sicily, Barcelona, Lisbon, Athens, Berlin, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia and several beautiful islands.
Following his discharge from the Navy, Ron worked in the Des Moines area for several years until leaving in 1979 for Colorado. After a short stay there he settled in Odessa, Texas where his uncle found him a job. Soon thereafter he married and started a family. Ron attended night school during this time and earned a master’s degree in educational leadership and another in American History. Upon graduation he began his 25-year career as a 6th grade teacher for the Ector County Independent School District. His calm demeaner and patience made him a beloved teacher by not only his students but even those not in his class.
Ron married Theresa Arnold in October of 2005. They spent the last 16 years blending their families, traveling, and loving each other.
Ron retired in January of 2019 and enjoyed that time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Ron was a very selfless man, who always put everyone else’s needs above his own. The love for his family was evident daily, with never a harsh word spoken.
Ron is preceded in death by both parents, several aunts, and uncles and nephew Dusty. He is survived by his wife Theresa. Son, Jason Anderson, wife Lisa and grandson Dalton. Daughter, Jamie Lankford, husband Quade and two grandchildren Jalie and Ace. Son, Jonathan Boyd, wife Amanda and four grandchildren, Benjamin, Sara, Emily and Abby.
