Ronald Gilbert

Ronald Forbes Gilbert, 79, of Odessa passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 in Odessa, TX at his home.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, January 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Odessa with Curtis Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Garden.

Ronald Forbes Gilbert was born in Ft. Worth, TX to Cliston O. Gilbert and Roberta Gilbert on October 12, 1933. He went to school at Odessa High and graduated in 1952. He married Barbara Smith on August 17, 1973. He worked as a Sheet Metal Forman for Bostick Roofing and Sheet Metal for over 40 years. He served in the Naval Reserve. He was involved in Optimist Club and was a long standing member of First Baptist Church Odessa.

Preceded in death by his father, Cliston O. Gilbert mother, Roberta Gilbert sister, Judy Peters and his first wife, Mary Lee Gilbert.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Barbara Gilbert of Odessa Rhonda Morris and husband Rodney of Odessa Robby Gilbert of San Marcos Joe Gilbert of Nashville, TN Craig Smith and wife Laura of Odessa and Sheryl Smith and husband Justin of Dallas. Grandchildren, Jessica Howard of Austin Jarrod Baggett of Ft. Worth Lauren Baggett of Arlington Ryan Gilbert of Gainesville, FL Taylor Gilbert of Round Rock Clayton Gilbert of Round Rock Mary Grace Gilbert of Watkinsville, GA Zachary Gilbert of Watkinsville, GA and 5 great grandchildren.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers along with soninlaws Rodney Morris and Justin Smith.
