On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, after a four-year courageous battle with cancer, Ronny (Ron) Payne, my loving husband, father, and grandpa passed away at the age of 74. His faith in God, Family and the Power of Prayer never wavered and got him through the battle he faced, and he was ready when the Lord called him home.
Ronny was born on November 9, 1946 in Del Rio, Texas to Buck and Audrey (Reeves) Payne. He was a Navy Veteran, enlisting on October 16, 1968, serving four years, with tours in Vietnam. Upon leaving the Navy, he moved to Waco, TX to continue his education. Waco was where he met, fell in love, and married his wife Ann. They were married in Mexico on November 18, 1972. They had one son, Buck, born in 1975.
In 1975 Ronny moved his family to Midland, TX and eventually started his own business, Basin Machine Tool and Supply. He battled the ups and downs of the oil field for 36 years, retiring November 2011. He loved and cared deeply for his family, treasured his family time and vacations. There are so many beautiful memories to share, he loved reminiscing and of course, there was never a dull moment, especially when he would put his spin on things. He was never at a loss for words, he had a quick wit and compassionate spirit.
Ronny is preceded in death by his father, Buck, and his mother, Audrey.
He is survived by his wife Ann; his son, Buck; two grandchildren, Garrett Payne (Odessa), and Emili Payne (Midland); his brother, Roger Payne and his wife Jeanna (Duncan, OK); niece, Audra Manning (OK); and great niece, Parker Manning.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wally Schiwart officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Ronny’s memory to MD Anderson.
