Ruby Ruth Niemeyer Claybrook, age 87, of Odessa passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 in Odessa. She was born on April 22, 1925 in Wilbarger County Texas to Selma and Wilhelm Niemeyer.
She attended schools in Vernon, Texas. She loved to read and would read on many subjects. She also enjoyed sewing and working with her flowers and plants.
She graduated Nursing School in 1957 with high honors. She also received her Cosmetology license and then went on to be an instructor in the same school.
On February 9, 1946 she married Jack Claybrook about whom she said It was love at first sight. During their early years of marriage they lived in many different states and finally moved and settled in Odessa in 1959.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she had many kind and caring friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack her sisters, Alice Erdman, Linda Manross and Lillie New her brothers, Lewis Ernst Niemeyer, Carl Wilhelm Niemeyer , William Alvin Niemeyer and Elmer Herman Niemeyer.
She is survived by her son, John of Odessa with whom she enjoyed taking trips and visiting in Washington D.C, the Black Hills of South Dakota, The Grand Canyon and all points in between, and to see Willie Nelson, her favorite singer. She is also survived by her daughter, Kathy Claybrook, who would get new and unique plants and flowers for the yard granddaughter, Alex B. Faubion who would go on vacation with her to visit relatives and in Vernon, Alex would go hunting with her Uncle Elmer Rubys brother great granddaughter, Alex L. Faubion who would set up canvases so they could paint and draw pictures of landscapes. They would also take trips to visit relatives. She is also survived by her sister, Hilda Viola Hervey of Albuquerque, New Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be 57 PM Friday, January 25, 2013 in Sunset Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2013 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Loudenback officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
