Ruby Inez Miller passed peacefully from this life into her heavenly rest on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Parks Methodist Retirement.
She was born May 26, 1919 in Gene Autry, Oklahoma to George Alley and Maud Arnold Adams. Inez was the second born of seven children. The fact that she was the oldest girl in a large family certainly helped shape the rest of her life as a perpetual caregiver. Caring for family and friends gave her life its purpose and meaning, and no one could do it better.
She met and married her beloved husband Thomas Irvine T.I. Miller in the summer of 1939 in Wickett, Texas where he worked at the Sid Richardson Carbon Plant. They were privileged to spend the next 66 years together before his death in March 2006.
After T.I.s service in the Army at MidlandOdessas Warfield, they settled in Midland where both lived, worked and worshiped for more than 40 years. In 1992 they relocated to Odessa, where they lived next door to their daughter. They were founders and long time members of Asbury Methodist Church in Midland and transferred that membership to Highland United Methodist Church when they moved to Odessa.
Inezs life was a living example of what Christian women should be and a testimony to her faith in God and was totally devoted to her church and family. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend and neighbor. Mere words cannot express how much she will be missed by those that are left. Selfishly, we shall mourn our loss, but we must thank God for the blessing of having had her in our lives for so long.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother brothers Roy and Gerald Adams and sister Lois Crow.
She is survived by her daughter Lois Ann Chenot and husband Paul, a grandson Scott Smith and wife Lori Ann all of Odessa, Texas. A granddaughter Lori Pruitt and husband Patrick and great granddaughters Peyton and Logan Pruitt all of Kerrville, Texas. She is also survived by sisters Juanita Fisher and Lou of Crane, Texas Pat Morris and Scotty of Midland, Texas brother Bobby Adams of Kenedy, Texas and her very special friend and neighbor Doris Smith.
The family will receive friends from 68 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donita Lea and Reverend David Weyent officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Scott Morris,, Charles Strackbein, Terry Hudson, Gabe Grewell, Cory Bynum, and Charles M. Grewell.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Parks Methodist and compass Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during her final days here on earth.
Memorials may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, Compass Hospice of Odessa or The American Heart Association.
