Ruby Phillips, 88, of Odessa died April 5, 2014 at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Braswell, officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Ruby was born April 25, 1925 in Brownwood, TX and was a graduate of Bangs High School where she lettered in basketball for 4 years. During WWII she moved to Dallas and worked at building B26 Bombers. After the war she moved back to Brownwood and worked at the U. S. Post Office where she met a handsome young Marine who had just returned from the South Pacific Islands. They married and this union produced one son, Mitchell Phillips of Odessa. She worked in the banking profession for 30 plus years, retiring from MBank. She attended Caprock Baptist church and played bridge with her church sisters until late at night regularly.
She was a precious Christian lady, wonderful loving wife and mother, sister and a friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell J. Phillips on September 27, 1998.

Granddaughter: Amy Nichols
4 great grand children: Shaley, Hannah, Tyler, and Paul
