Russell Boyd Pete Carter, 83, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Scenic Mountain Hospital in Big Spring, Texas.
Pete was born in Madill, Oklahoma, on August 3, 1926 to Eulah and James Perry Carter. He was a proud member of the Chickasaw Indian Tribe of Oklahoma. His grandfather, Ellis Russell, was full blood Chickasaw and lived in Marshall County prior to Oklahoma becoming a state. Pete was an avid supporter of OU and the Odessa Broncos.
After graduation at Madill, he enlisted in the U. S. Marines. Following his discharge he worked for three different oilfield supply companies for 43 years. Those companies were United Supply and Manufacturing, Misco United Supply Company, and Redman Pipe and Supply Company. Pete was promoted by Misco United Supply to Senior Vice President for their West Texas and New Mexico
isions. During his career all of his service was in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, former wife Wanda L. Carter of Odessa, his three brothers, Weldon, Travis, and Welch of Oklahoma and nephew Frank Carter of Oklahoma City.
Pete is survived by his daughter, Lou Roemisch, of Odessa, former wife Martha Carter of Odessa, sister-in-law Mary Carter of Madill, Oklahoma, and nephew Charles Carter of Oklahoma City.
There will be visitation from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Friday, October 16, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with John Van Hoose officiating.
