Ruth Wilson

August 19, 1921 — March 19, 2013

Ruth Evelyn Wilson, age 91, of Odessa, passed from this earth to Heaven on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. She is now peacefully reunited with her Lord and Savior. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Father Joseph Ogbanna officiating.

She was born August 19, 1921 in Larned, KS to John P. and Edna R. Nauert. She graduated from Larned High School in 1939. Their class song was Thanks for the Memories and she felt strongly about making beautiful memories throughout her life.

On May 23, 1947 she married the love of her life Wesley F. Wilson in Larned, KS. As a couple they chose to leave the family farming business in Kansas and move to West Texas to pursue a life in the oil industry and raise a family.

Her greatest love and interests revolved around three aspects of her life: family, faith and helping others. Her commitment, love and dedication were to her family and friends that she so dearly treasured and cared about. She was greatly involved with St. Marys Catholic Church and began the Catholic Charities organization in the late 1970s from a small house on Kermit Hwy in Odessa to the organization that it is today. She was also a lifetime member of both the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary from which she proudly gained membership through her brother.

She will always be remembered as a role model with a giving heart and a beautiful soul. She welcomed everyone with her beautiful blue eyes, her irresistible smile, and warmed our hearts with her loving ways. It can honestly be said that she believed that everyone should Laugh as long as you can breathe, and love as long as you live.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, her husband, Wesley F. Wilson, and sons, Gary M. Wilson and Steven W. Wilson.

She is survived by one son, Gregg Wilson of Odessa daughter, Karen Wilson Wheat of Midland daughterinlaw, Carol Swain Wilson of Midland sisters, Grace Sloan and Dorothy Moyer, both of Kansas sisterinlaw, Betty Nauert of KS eight grandchildren, Jordan, Joshua, John Wesley and Jackson Wilson all of Midland, Wesley Mathew Wilson of Houston, Erin Pierson of Denver, CO, Brian Wilson of Denver, CO, and McKinsey Foster of Rugby, ND and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family wants to thank all of their dear family and friends for their overwhelming show of love and support through this time. We would also like to extend a special thanks to Dr. R.J. Patel, Dr. Reddy, Dr. Nagala, and the wonderful staff at ORMC.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations and remembrances be made to the Catholic Charities Organization of Odessa.
