Sabas Pena, Sr.

Sabas Garcia Pena, Sr., 79 of Odessa, passed away Friday, November 14, 2008 in Odessa. He was born December 23, 1928 in Alice, Texas to Encarnacion Silva Pena and Marcella Garcia Pena.

He married Bertha Garcia January 13, 1964 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He retired from Ref-Chem after 27 years of service. He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He really cherished his many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Pena and his parents, Encarnacion and Marcella Pena, a daughter, Maricela Pena and a son, Oscar Garcia.

Survivors include his sons, Sabas G. Pena, Jr and Marcos G. Gomez of Odessa; his daughters, Hayde Martinez of Sweetwater, Annabelle Pena of San Antonio and Maribel Martinez of Odessa; brothers, Zaragosa Pena of Tulia, Texas, Alvaro Pena of Robstown, Texas, Emilio Pena of San Antonio, Luis Pena of Corpus Christi, Texas and Francisco Pena of California; sisters, Tomasa Guerrero and Selerina Ybarra, both of Robstown, Texas; 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Juan Adame officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
