Shirley Proffitt Martin

Shirley Proffitt Martin, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, was called to her eternal resting place on Monday, May 16, 2022, in Odessa, TX.

Shirley graduated from Hobbs High School and attended Hardin Simmons University. She married Jerry G. Proffitt in 1957, and they moved to Odessa, TX in 1966. They were married 33 years until his death in 1991. She married Tommie Martin in 1996 and joined two families together. They were married 25 years until her death. Shirley & Tommie were avid MOJO fans and never missed a game. She retired from Huntsman in 2002. She took great pride in serving as President on the Complex Community Federal Credit Union Board which she did for many years. She loved being with her family and enjoyed watching the grandkids grow. She loved baking cakes, and everyone always requested her strawberry cake for birthdays.

She is preceded in death by both her parents; Jerry G Proffitt; son, Jeff Proffitt; grandson, Clayton Chance Smith; sister, Cleta Jackson; and brother, Johnny E Brown.

She is survived by her husband Tommie Martin, her children, Paula Smith (Haskell), Lisa Proffitt, Tommy Martin (Andrea), Kimberly Chancellor, (Randy), Renee Walker (Kelly).Grandchildren - Chelsea Waters (Jason), Callie Norris (Matt), Courtney Heap (Blake), Stephanie Mainka (Stephen), Mallori Hutson (Luke), Taylor Martin (Victoria), Shelby Ellis (Jordan), Trent Chancellor (Holly), Kirsten Taylor (Chelsea Palma), Dru Taylor (Jareli Sanchez) Great grandchildren - Walker, Willow & Winter Waters, Reece, Ryan & Ryker Norris, Jackson & Abby Heap, Barrett Mainka, Hendrix Villareal & Halen Martin, Truett Ellis, Levi, Jerusalem & Brielle Chancellor, and Isla Jade Taylor.

Sister-in-Law - Mary Anne Brown and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank all the employees with Buena Vida Nursing and Interim Hospice for their kind care with Shirley.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 3:00 pm. at Chapel, 6801 E. Business 20, Odessa, TX 79762 with Pastor Byron McWilliams officiating.
