Soyla Martinez

Soyla Martinez, 70, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at her home in Odessa.

She was born April 10, 1939 in Seguin, Texas to Inez and Lenora Sanchez. Soyla loved her family and loved her country.

Soyla grew up in Seguin and moved to Odessa with her family as a teen ager to work the agriculture piece of West Texas. She worked for several years at Texas Peripherals, from there on to Texas Instruments. She had four children, Edith Arriaga, Lorenzo Cerrillo, Teresa Vasquez, all of Odessa and Edward Martinez of California. She loved her children and loved her grandchildren. She sewed, cooked and made the best home made tortillas. She took good care of her family. Her grandchildren are Fabian, Moises and Alexsandra Maldonado; Andrew and Halie Vasquez, and her great grandchildren are Lil Fabian and Lil Momo.

Her surviving sisters are Margaret Acevedo and Olivia Cisnersos, her brother is Joe Sanchez.

A Prayer service will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Clay Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
