Stanley Thomas

Stanley Thomas, 75, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in Odessa.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 12, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Taylor Robles of Sherwood Church of Christ officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Stanley was born in Ringling, Oklahoma, to Ira Franklin Thomas and Mildred Odell Thomas on August 13, 1946.  He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Moore, on July 1, 1966.  They just recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.  He worked in the oilfield his entire life and owned Thomas Rotary Equipment in Odessa for the past 25 years up until the time he retired.

Stanley loved his family and spent his life devoted to his kids and grandkids.  He loved watching his grandson, Matthew, play baseball starting at age 3 all the way through high school.  He very rarely, if ever, missed a game, or even a scrimmage.  Stanley also had a special love for his granddaughter, Lauren, who he let style his hair and paint his nails when she was little.  He also enjoyed watching his grandson, Blake, play basketball.  Stanley loved his grandkids and everyone who knew him, knew just how much they meant to him.

One of his other greatest joys in life was fishing.  Stanley started fishing at a ripe young age and was still fishing up until his health declined.  He loved showing off pictures of the fish he caught and most importantly, the big ones.

Stanley is preceded in death by his parents, Ira Franklin Thomas and Mildred Odell Thomas; in-laws, Owen and Madge Moore; and brother-in-law, Jerry Moore.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Donna Thomas of Odessa, TX; daughter, Melissa Thomas of Midland, TX; son, Mike Thomas of Lubbock, TX; sister, Peggy Meekins of Broken Arrow, OK; and grandchildren, Matthew Wilkins, Lauren Wilkins and Blake Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Chad Miller, Curtis Thomas, Ricky Plymell and Stan Wilkins.

Memorials may be given to Interim Healthcare and Hospice at 1031 Andrews Hwy, STE 100, Midland, TX, 79701.  The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Parks Methodist Nursing Home and Jessica Sotelo at Interim Healthcare and Hospice. They went above and beyond in giving personal care to Stanley and to our family.
