Stephen Preston Sykes, age 55, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital following a short illness. Steve was surrounded by his loving family. He was a good son, brother, uncle and friend.
Stephen was born December 4, 1961 to Hap and Melba Sykes in Odessa, TX. He was a graduate of Permian High School, Christ for the Nations Institute (CFNI), and Dallas Baptist University. He had many passions but working in the radio/TV industry was by far his favorite. Until his illness, he most recently could be heard nightly on KCKM radio in Monahans. His home church was First Baptist - Odessa where he attended as often as possible.
Steve, as the family called him, is survived by his mother, Melba and older brother, Barry of Odessa, his sister and brother in-law, Judy and John Dalton of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, his younger brother, Nathan of Wilton Manors, Florida as well as two nieces, one nephew and their children, an uncle, three aunts and several cousins.
He was welcomed into his Father's House by his dad and his grandparents, A.C. and Docia Preston as well as his uncle and aunt, Carl and Claudie Preston and their sons.
Family visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, October 23, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Grace Christian Fellowship with Pastor Clark Racca presiding.
