Stephen Francis Johnson, 77, of Odessa, Texas, Midland Memorial Hospital Transfusion Safety Officer, died August 08, 2021, peacefully at home in Odessa.
Stephen was born on May 24, 1944, at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station to John and Barbara Johnson. Stephen married the love of his life, Sherry “Shea” Johnson on December 28, 1973 in Dallas. He had a background in zoology and life sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. Stephen like his witty wife was a writer who enjoyed writing about nature. A voracious reader, he could easily speak on a multitude of subjects. Stephen felt most at home in the great outdoors and loved to go fishing with his sons, Zach, and Nathan Johnson. Stephen was an excellent father who loved his children dearly and was proud of all of their accomplishments.
Stephen worked at Midland Memorial Hospital for over twenty years in the blood bank and will be dearly missed by all of his colleagues. They will especially miss his many cartoons that covered his office window. The Transfusion Safety Officer position was created specifically for Stephen.
Stephen is preceded in death by his loving wife Shea Johnson, his parents John and Barbara Johnson, and his younger brother Tim Johnson. Stephen is survived by his three children. Zach and his wife Stephanie Johnson of Lubbock, Nathan and his wife Fatima Johnson of Odessa, and Elizabeth and Steven Larizza of Odessa.
