Steve Chavez, 43, left his earthly home November 3,2021 in his home of Odessa, TX. Visitation will be Sunday 3-5pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10am at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home with preacher Travis Walker of Billy Hext Road Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services to follow.
Steve was born in Odessa, TX to Raymond and Diana Chavez, March 28, 1978. He was raised as a devoted Broncho where he graduated proudly class of 1996. After attending Odessa High, he attended Texas Tech University where he continued his football career. Shortly after, at the young age of 20, he married his wife Angelica Chavez October 3, 1998 in Midland, TX. They celebrated their 23rd anniversary very much in love. He was general manager for Major Electric for 13 years. He began his dream job with Chevron as an Automation Analyst for the Mid-Continent Business Unit Central November 1, 2021. Steve was a long-time volunteer where he served as a coach for The West Texas Track Club. His love of motorcycles and mechanics in general will leave an echo of these passions for his friends for years to come. His true dedication was his service to God, serving as a member of Billy Hext Road Church of Christ and previously at Crescent Park Church of Christ as a faithful member for over 20 years.
Steve is preceded in death by his brother Michael Sanchez, his grandparents Maria Cadena and John Joe Cadena.
Steve is survived by his wife Angelica Chavez, children Max Ray Chavez and Ezra Michael Chavez, brother Raymond Chavez Jr. his wife Brenda, brother Paul Chavez, sister Monica Venegas her husband Sam, and sister Reisa Ramos and her husband Jason, parents Raymond and Diana Chavez as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Alfred Alvarado, Raymond Chavez Jr., Danny Czarnikow, Jesse Gutierrez III, Franklin Kays, Joshua Kauffman, Richard Neboh, Jeremy Quiroz.
Honorary pallbearers; Tomas Berdoza, Dustan Cadena, Allen Cadena, Eliseo Lopez Jr., Fabian Lopez, John Wood, Corbin Quiroz.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to the members of Billy Hext Road and Crescent Park Church of Christ as well as all of Steve’s family and close friends for their loving support through this difficult time.
