Sue Buchanan

Sue (Lampp) Buchanan, age 88, of Odessa, TX. Passed away on November 13, 2016 in Odessa.

Sue was born the 2nd of six to Emery and Era Cummins Lampp on July 6, 1928 in Hillsboro, TX. The family "went west" when she was four. She graduated high school in Seagraves, TX and attended SNU in Oklahoma City. Being very family oriented she enjoyed being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

October 25, 1947, she married Arthur "Buck" Buchanan in Lubbock, TX where they lived 25 years and raised their son, Ted. She retired after 30 years from AT&T, serving several positions in Lubbock, TX, and as Accounting Auditor in Houston, TX, at the age of 49.

After retirement, her homes included Tyler, Phoenix, and Escondido, CA, then to Odessa in 1991, to help with her mother's care. She said the people of Odessa, many the survivors of oil booms and busts, are the sweetest and most giving anywhere and Buck agreed. Everywhere they lived, friends were gained and she never gave up on one and she coordinated her H.S. class to the end.

She was always involved in women's ministry's and is one of two charter of reader's # 2, which she helped establish and other church groups, whom all became her sisters.

Sue is preceded in death by her loving husband, Buck Buchanan, her parents, Emery and Era Lampp, and all of her siblings except her youngest brother.

She is survived by her son, Ted Buchanan and his wife Sherilyn of San Marcos, CA, grandsons, John Buchanan and his wife Laura, of Newport, OR., Jeff Buchanan of San Marcos, CA; one brother, Joe Lampp of Oklahoma City; five great grandchildren, Blue and Brandan Buchanan of Vista, CA, Kai, Araya and Maya of Newport, OR.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 19, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Byron McWilliams presiding. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Building Fund or to Gideons International.
