Susan Cultreri

October 25, 1953 — February 17, 2025

Midland, TX

Susan Jones Cultreri of Midland, Texas passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 71.

On October 25, 1953, Earl and Dorothy Jones welcomed their first child into this world at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. Susan Patricia was the oldest of five children. Her siblings remember her as the big sister who would take you to the beach, or drive everyone around on Christmas Eve looking at the holiday lights. She was the mischievous big sister that secretly taught an 8-year-old how to drive her dad’s stick shift car. She started food fights and tickled you until you cried. She was the glamorous ‘60s teenager with blond hair, miniskirts and go-go boots.

Susan graduated high school in Salinas, California and then attended New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology studying mathematics. She graduated with her college degree from the University of Texas Permian Basin. While in college she met and fell in love with Jasha Cultreri. As a young adult, Susan loved playing tennis, enjoyed sewing and learned to become a gourmet cook. Susan became a mother to two children, Katherine and John Casey. She also became a passionate skier, and family ski trips were one of her greatest joys. Susan always loved her family, often traveling to support her younger siblings. She cared for both her mother and father as they aged and battled illness at the end of their lives. After her children were raised, Susan taught mathematics at Midland College.

Susan loved to travel but always returned to Midland and enjoyed everything her hometown had to offer. Growing up with a father in the US Air Force, Susan loved the annual air show sponsored by the Commemorative Air Force. Community theater, especially Summer Mummers, was also one of her favorites.

Susan will be remembered for her laugh, her often bawdy sense of humor, her love of dancing, and her love for her pets. She was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.

Susan is survived by her sister, Constance (Ernest); her sisters, Jean (Pat), Laurie (Roman); her brother, Leland (Joyce); her former husband, Jasha; her two children, Katherine and Casey (Stephanie); and her grandchildren, Lillian and Callan (with Callan’s baby sister coming soon).

She will be missed……

The family thanks Chris Lamb at Tall City Errand Service for his years of assistance to Susan. The family also wishes to thank the caring staff at The Courtyards and Home Hospice in Odessa for assisting with Susan’s care.
