Sylvia Louise Bowden Hunt, born April 16, 1929 in Wilbarger County, Texas passed away at home surrounded by her family on June 6, 2011.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, J. Earl Hunt, her daughter Sylvia Beth Gaddis and husband Glen Gaddis, and grandson, Christopher Gaddis, her parents John and Jewell Bowden, sister Lola Williams, brothers A.C. Bowden and Robert Bowden.
She is survived by daughter Sandra Phillips Wayne, daughter Barbara Cass Don, son Kenneth Hunt Vicki, grandchildren Paula Threatt Pat, Jason Phillips, Jon Phillips Kim, Lance Hunt and Fara Beth Hunt. Great grandchildren Tavner, Kayla, Matthew Threatt, Courtney Phillips, Chase Hunt, Boston Hunt, and Shandon Nutter. Brother A.J. Bowden, Roland Bowden Fran and J.H. Bowden Jr. Barbara and sister Loretta Weatherly J.R..
Sylvia was a charter member of St. Lukes United Methodist where she served as a Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher and offering counter. Sylvia was currently attending Asbury United Methodist Church. Sylvia was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed arts and crafts. She retired from Sears Roebuck in 1992 after 29 years of service.
Pallbearers will be Jason and Jon Phillips, Lance Hunt, Tavner Threatt, Matthew Threatt, Patrick Threatt.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday June 9, 2011 with Rev. Don Cass officiating, and burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Wednesday June 8, 2011, from 68 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church.
