Sylvia Lou Turnbow, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 6, 2010 in Odessa.
She was born May 31, 1929 in Dublin, Texas to Alfred Haywood Burnett and Dora Alice Able. She was raised and schooled in Lomax and Lamesa. She married L.J. Wilcox in February 1948, and he passed away in 1958. She married Alfred Earl Turnbow on October 27, 1979 in Odessa. Most of her life she was a housewife and her family was her life. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends. Pecan pies were her specialty and her cooking will truly be missed by all She was a member of First Baptist Church. There she enjoyed going to the Ladies Round Table.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Burnett and Dora Ables and her brother, Bootie Burnett.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Turnbow daughter, Deborah Baty of Midland grandsons, Bryan Baty and Becky of Midland, Jeffrey and Elizabeth Baty of Joseph, Oregon, Jonathan and Candice Baty of Vinemont, Alabama and nine great grandchildren, five boys and four girls brothers, Ray and Lela Belle Burnett of Hobbs, New Mexico, Alfred and Jacque Burnett, Jr. of Hurst, Texas and Herman and Shirley Burnett of Coos Bay, Oregon five nephews and three nieces.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:308:00 PM Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday, September 9, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Randy Kendrix officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
At the family request, memorials may be made to First Baptist Building Fund in Odessa, Texas.
