Teddy Eugene Parson

Teddy E. Parson, age 82, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on August 4, 2024. 

 

Family Visitation will be on Friday, August 16th, 2024, from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM, at Central Baptist Church, 1401 N. Texas in the Fellowship Hall. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 17th, 2:00 PM, at Central Baptist Church, 1401 N. Texas with Rev. Vaughny Taylor of Central Baptist leading in service. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Odessa.

 

 Ted was born in Sumner (Ragtown), Texas to Elvis E. Parson and Ardith Shipman on December 2, 1941. Ted graduated in 1959 from Imperial High School, and immediately upon graduation, joined the U.S. Army, serving for three years in Germany. On May 31, 1963, Ted married the love of his life, Darlene Gray, enjoying 61 years together. Ted worked 40 years for AirLiquide, ultimately becoming the Branch Manager, retiring in 2001, and after relaxing for a year, began working for B-Line Filter and Supply for 15 years, retiring in 2017, due to health reasons. Ted was a dedicated member of The Gideons International for over 40 years, serving three of those years as President of the Texas Association of the Gideons International, and traveling to parts of Italy and Africa to distribute scriptures. Ted also served on the Board of Directors for the Door of Hope Mission for 40 years and served as an officer for the Permian Band and Orchestra Boosters from 1985 - 1989. Ted was a charter member of Central Baptist Church, serving as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Music Director. 

 

Ted is preceded in death by both of his parents, his stepfather, Charlie Simmons; a brother, Billy Dale Parson; and great granddaughter, Ozzie St. Claire Graham.

 

 Ted is survived by his wife, Darlene Parson; daughter, Cindy Graham of Odessa; eldest son, Craig Parson and wife, Samantha of Jacksboro, Texas; youngest son, Cristopher Parson and wife, Heather of Beaumont, Texas; brother, Mickey Parson and wife, Cathy of Granbury, Texas; grandchildren, Caitlin Graham, of San Antonio, Texas, Holly Floyd and husband, Adam, of Beaumont, Philip Graham and wife, Holland, of Fort Worth, Texas, Catherine Griffis and husband, Noah, of Beaumont, Jacqueline Parson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Rey and Amelia Floyd and Gavin Griffis; nieces, Tiffany Hager of Lubbock, Texas, Cameron Hitt of Granbury, Texas, Carlisle Rogers of Panama City Beach, Florida; and lifelong friends and camping buddies, Jerald and Kay Greene, of Odessa.

 

 Honorary Pallbearers will be Central Baptist Deacons. 

 

The family requests that memorial gifts be given to The Gideons International, Door of Hope Mission or Central Baptist Church. The family would also like to thank the Madison Medical Resort nurses; Medical Center nurses, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their kind and wonderful care of our beloved, Ted.
