In Loving Memory of Terry Layne Christian

January 9, 1957 – April 5, 2025

Terry Layne Christian, a man whose life was defined by quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering devotion to his family, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 68. To know Terry was to know kindness, loyalty, and a steady presence that made everyone around him feel cared for and safe. He was a man who gave his whole heart to his wife, his children, and especially his grandchildren — and in return, he was deeply loved by all who were lucky enough to call him theirs.

Born on January 9, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas, Terry was the beloved son of Bennie and Sue Christian. He shared a close bond with his family, especially his twin brother Gary. Terry was a man of great integrity, compassion, and strength — values he carried throughout his life.

On August 26, 1978, Terry married the love of his life, Dana Christian. Their 46 years of marriage were a true testament to enduring love, partnership, and faith. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two daughters, Amber Freeman and April Oglesby, who brought him endless pride and joy.

Terry was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Luke Freeman, Baylee Freeman, Jaydyn Oglesby, Rylee Freeman, Haydyn Oglesby, Cade Freeman, and Paytyn Oglesby. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he adored every moment he spent with them.

Terry earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and dedicated most of his career to the oil field industry. He was respected for his work ethic, intelligence, and unwavering dedication.

Terry is survived by his loving wife, Dana; his daughters, Amber Freeman, and April Oglesby and her husband, John; his cherished grandchildren; his twin brother, Gary and wife Brenda; his sister, Jane and husband Shane May; and his sister-in-law, Lana and husband Alfred Vardeman. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who adored him, including Kyle Christian, Jonathan McKeel, Kayla and husband Matt Maxwell, Morgan and husband Bryce Bommersbach, and Summer and husband Tye Caffey.

Terry is preceded in death by his father, Bennie Christian; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Christian and Mr. and Mrs. Medley.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to honor and remember a man who meant so much to so many.

Terry will be remembered for his big heart, steady presence, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me;

your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

— Psalm 23:4
