Theodore Roedel, Jr.

May 30, 1948 — August 12, 2009

Theodore Ted Roedel, Jr., a loving husband, father, and granddad, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at his residence in Odessa.

Ted was born May 30, 1948, to Theodore and Vestal Greenway Roedel, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Ted graduated from Lawrence Central High in 1966, by the following year; he enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1967, where he was sent overseas. While in the Air Force, he attended college in 1983 and got an associate degree in Applied Science. He met and later married Elizabeth Francis on January 15, 1972 in Abilene, Texas. In October 1987 he retired from the United States Air Force as SMSGT.

After retiring, he and his family moved to Southern California where he went to work for McDonald Douglas till June of 1995. In July of 1995, he and his family moved to Odessa, where he started his career into diesel mechanics. He started working at Southwest Equipment till 2001. In March of 2001, he got a job at Sewell Ford, while there he was called Teddy. Sewell Ford became a second family to him, and to my co-workers, all I have to say is WHAT Ted loved fishing, golfing, bowling, drag racing and he was a character.

Survived by his wife Elizabeth; sons, Don; Joe and wife Dawn; and daughter Suzanne; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter all of Odessa; brothers Thomas and wife Joan Roedel of Joliet, Illinois; John, Mike and wife Janice of Lantana, Florida; and sister JoAnn and husband Kenneth Braden.

Family is having visitation Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 6pm 8 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, August 17, 2009 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial following at Sunset memorial Gardens where the United States Air force will honor him one last time.

We give thanks to all those at Sewell Ford and home hospice that helped us in our time of need.

We love and miss you, but find comfort in knowing that you are in a much better place free from pain.
