Thomas Wilson Stanley

Thomas Wilson Stanley passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Tom was born November 4, 1951, to Roy and Geneva Stanley in Odessa Texas. Tom grew up in Odessa where he graduated from Odessa High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. Upon his return he married Kathy on November 11, 1972. The couple would eventually have three children, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Tom spent several years coaching baseball and attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren. He loved to fish and hunt with his family. He enjoyed being surrounded by his children and grandchildren, especially his grandchildren. He was also an avid gardener, often planting black eyed peas and tomatoes, one year he planted over 1200 tomato plants. On summer nights it wasn’t uncommon to see the entire neighborhood picking peas. Sometimes Tom seemed as if he didn’t say much till, he had you in the car and then he would talk your ear off. 

          Tom is survived by two sons, Chad Wilson Stanley of Midland Tx, Ryan Stanley and wife Valerie Stanley of Port Neches Tx; daughter, Shawna Zachery and husband Larry Zachery of Midland Tx. Other survivors include sisters, Linda Wall of Brady Tx, and Shirly Drake of Willis Tx; grandchildren, Kathrine Parum, Lexi Stanley, Koy Stanley, Cari Jean Stanley, Roy Stanley, Thraci Zachery and Cade Zachary; greatgrandchildren, James Craig and Eva Parum. 

He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Kathy Stanley; his parents, Roy Wilson and Geneva Stanley; and oldest grandson, Cole Wilson Stanley.
