Tommy was born in Corinth, Mississippi, to Charlie and Rosie Mae Clifton on June 1, 1939. He married his wife Barbara Gordon on June 7, 1957, in Odessa, Texas. He worked for Bostick Roofing at the age of 17 for 17 years. At age 34, he went into business for himself and opened Clifton Roofing.
Tommy attended Pecan Baptist Church in Robert Lee. He was a very active and social man who enjoyed being around others and could usually be found swinging a club on the golf course, bowling or restoring old vehicles. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger days and then traveling in his motorhome. But most of all he loved playing his guitar. He played lead guitar in the band “The Blazers” in the 70’s and 80’s at all Odessa local lodges. Dressing up and performing as Elvis was his favorite. Whether in a band or just strumming around with his grandkids, he LOVED playing music.
Tommy is proceeded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Clifton; father, and mother; one brother, CJ Clifton; and four sisters, Betty Mae Klann, Charlene Parker, Rosa Lee Knight, and Jean Burrows.
Tommy is survived by his two sons, Tommy Clifton, Jr., and wife Karen (Odessa), Mark Clifton and wife Tammy (Midland); two brothers, Billy Wayne Clifton, and wife Georgia, and Gerald Clifton; five grandchildren, Jessica Bizzell (Jim Bob), Tommy Clifton III, Cheri’ Clifton, Lacey Griffice, and Cody Cooper; and six great-grandchildren, Marcus, Madison, Ava, Ryder, Gage, and Saber.
