Troy Edward Jones, age 90, of Odessa, Texas, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2011 just six days after his beloved wife and soul mate, Era Jones went to be with the Lord herself.
He was born May 26, 1920, in Big Spring, TX and was the eldest son out of five brothers to the late Fannie Mae and Abe Jones. One day after Troys 19th birthday, Troy received the best birthday present he could ask for. He married his lifelong partner, soul mate, and companion, Era Adams. From that day on, the two would spend their next 71 years side by side.
Troy served honorably in the United States Army, and was a proud member of Temple Baptist Church for more than 30 years. Troy was also a member of the Sheriffs Posse, the American Legion as well as a distinguished 32nd degree mason. Troy worked at Jones Bros. Dirt and Paving along the side of his brothers and sons constructing some of the best roadways in the great state of Texas and cherished every moment.
Troy is survived by sons Ronnie Jones and his wife, Kathy of Midland, Danny Jones of Odessa, Travis Jones and his wife, Alice of Odessa and brother, Earl Jones of Odessa. Along with three sons, Troy also had 6 grandchildren, as well as 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Era Jones, parents, Fannie Mae and Abe Jones, his brothers B.R. Barnie R. Jones, Raymond Slim Jones, J.W. Curley Jones and Bobby Jones.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Johnny Thomason officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
