Vela Bowen

Allene Bowen, age 81, of Odessa, passed away Monday May 30, 2011 in Odessa. She was the most incredible wife, mother, and friend, and her loss will be forever felt by her family. Knowing shes in heaven with our Lord is our greatest consolation.

She was born March 20, 1930 in San Angelo, Texas to Jessie Clement Chatham and Elizabeth Young Chatham. She grew up in San Angelo and married Donald Bowen there on June 18, 1944. The couple moved to Monahans in 1958 and then to Odessa in 1991. She was a member of Sherwood Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, J.C. Chatham and wife Myra, L.V. Chatham and wife I.V., Jay Lee Chatham and wife Betty, Billy Chatham her sister, Dorothy Matheny and one great granddaughter, Abigail Bowen.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Bowen of Odessa her daughter, Nancy Nowak and husband Gene her sons, Jessey Bowen and wife Fonda, and Jeff Bowen and wife Celia grandchildren, Michael Everett, Rick Vinyard and wife Trish, Jeremy Bowen and wife Kwyndala, Matthew Bowen and wife Ashley, Faith Trahan, Jennifer Tidwell and husband Jason, Brittany Cobos and husband Chris, and Kylie Rogers four great grandchildren, Graysen Trahan, Taylor Trahan, Jonathan Bowen, Bryson Tidwell, and two great grandchildren on the way sistersinlaw, Mildred Bowen and Barbara Chatham.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Lonnie Hamil officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Joe Burton, David Burton, R.B. Hunnicutt, Jerry Whitley, Bill Thorpe, and Roger Winchell.
