Velma Foote

Velma Allene Foote passed into the Arms of Our Lord and Savoir, with her family around her on November 16, 2013. She was 91 years old.
Visitation will be Thursday, 5 pm to 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be Friday, 11AM at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clay Porter and Curtis Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Velma Allene Foote was born September 7, 1922 to Arthur Bryan and Mittie Estes Strickland. She was the first of three children. Velma graduated from Dual High School. She married Charles V. Foote on January 25, 1957. Velma was a Member of First Baptist Church of Odessa for over 50 years. She was very active in Americana Study Club, Odessa Forum, Mission Ladies Golf Association and Medical Center Auxiliary for many years.

Velma is preceded in death her parents, one brother, Billy Ray Strickland and son, Tory Lane Foote.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles V. Foote, daughter, Lori Missy Foote Peterson, brother, Don Strickland of Wichita Falls, TX., grandchildren Amanda N. Peterson, Robert Charles Peterson, Morgan Shae Foote Strimer, Rachel Clark Foote, Lori Foote Stroud, sistersnlaw Helen Strickland of Lubbock, TX., Geraldine Scott of Lakeside, CO., and Nita McCoy of Poughkeepsi, NY and many loving nieces, nephews and family friends.

Pallbearers will be Lamar Foote, Ed Strickland, Charlie Strickland, Kevin Wilson, R.E. Williams and Billy Howell.

The family would like to thank Compass Hospice for all their tender care during this time. They would also like to give a special thanks to Melody Ferguson who has cared for Mother, so lovely for the past year.
