Velma Lewis

Velma V. Yarbrough Lewis Ema, G.G. joined our Lord and Savior Sunday, March 30, 2008 at home with her loving family by her side at the age of 93. She was born January 3, 1915 in Kiowa, OK to Charley Garfield Yarbrough and Verna Phine Lindley Yarbrough. She married Don Lewis in Okemah, OK, March 9, 1931. They later moved to Odessa in 1940. She was Co-Founder of Meister Industries; sold Shaklee Vitamins, owned and operated New Horizon Kids Camp at the Railway Ranch in the 1970s, owned and operated the Hill Country Food Store at Lake LBJ in Marble Falls, TX in the 1970s, managed Quail Run Apartments in Odessa, made and sold porcelain dolls, and she was an original member of the Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church, but most of all she was the greatest Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend that anyone could have ever asked for. Those left to cherish her everlasting love and memory are one sister, Vada DeArmond of Ft. Smith, AK, four daughters; Charlene Meister, Kay Thomas, and husband Wayne, Cathey Scott and husband Robert all of Odessa, TX., Sandy Johnson and husband Dale of Wilburton , OK. Grandchildren; Heather Taylor-Sharp and husband Brent, Larry Turner and wife Rebecca of Odessa, TX., Leslie Velasco and husband Vicente of Lubbock, TX., Jeremy Johnson and wife Claire, Jaime Edwards and husband Justin, Adam Johnson and wife Brittany of Grapevine, TX., Randy, Brett and Tory Smith of Austin, TX. Great-Grandchildren; Billy Meister, Jr. and wife Jennifer, Thomas Tommy L. Taylor, III, Peyton Sharp, Alexander and Macey Velasco, Averianna and Lewis Turner, Great-Great-Grandchildren; Laurynn Meister, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church with proudly her nephews Rev. Craig DeArmond of Odessa, TX and Rev. Charles Jackson of Tulsa, OK officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
