Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality in light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Venita Anna Fischer Bagwell.
Venita, 81, was called to her heavenly home on December 3, 2010. A celebration of life in Christ worship will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 824 E. 18th St., Odessa, at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 7, 2010. Visitation will be Monday, December 6, 2010, 68 PM at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Pastor Peter C. Kolb, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia, Ill., will serve as the officiating pastor.
Venita was given life by her Creator and was born on March 26, 1929 in Olfen, TX to Wilhelm and Isabella Halfmann Fischer. On March 31, 1929, she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On August 23, 1942 she publicly confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and was confirmed. She received the precious gift of the Lords lifegiving body and blood. On November 29, 1950, Venita was joined together in holy matrimony to Roy William Bagwell who fell asleep in Jesus on November 27, 2001.
Roy and Venita came to Odessa in 1951. She worked 17 years for the Safeway Grocery Business. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and worked Redeemers Braille Ministry for many years.
Survivors are: Dee Roy Bagwell and wife Jill of Odessa, son, Brett Bagwell of North Dallas, daughter Blair Bagwell of Austin, Reverend Jerry Don Bagwell and son Ronnie Don Bagwell of Odessa sisters, Agnes Parker of Ballinger, Magdalene Harris and Laurene Goetz from San Angelo, Mary Frances Williams and husband Garlan of Snyder, Lucille Rohmfeld and husband Dennis of Ballinger, Willa May Briley and husband W. C. of San Angelo brother, Willie Fischer Jr. and wife Totsey of San Angelo sisterinlaw and best friend, Nadine Fischer of Mereta, plus many friends, nieces and nephews.
Venita is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Roy and Alton Fischer.
