Veona Pirtle

Veona Pirtle, died Sunday, December 30, 2018 in Madison Medical Resort.

Veona was born in Lampasas, Texas on September 14, 1932 to Howard and Laura Spivey. She graduated from Lampasas High School and went on to attend Commercial Business College.
She married Eugene Pirtle on January 20, 1951 at her family home. They enjoyed a life of more than 58 years of marriage together.

Veona was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She found great pleasure in the simple things in life; all the gatherings of family and friends at the ranch and lake.
Sorority was a very important part of Veona's life. She made many long-lasting friendships during her 56 years of membership. She joined Beta Sigma Phi in Hobbs, New Mexico in 1962 and later moved her membership to Xi Xi Chapter in Odessa, TX in 1967. She progressed to Preceptor Gamma Beta in 1973 and Preceptor Laureate Alpha Psi in 1983 until present.
One of the most treasured possessions a mother leaves her children is a heart full of loving memories. Those left to cherish her memories are children and grandchildren.

Veona is survived by her one son, Mike Pirtle and wife Trish of Corpus Christi, one daughter Katherine Holloway, and one daughter-in-law Patsy Pirtle of Odessa; numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren, all of which were very precious to her; one sister Von Dean Petty of Austin and one brother James Spivey and wife Bonita of Plano.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Laura Spivey, one son Terry Lynn Pirtle, one son-in-law, Gary Holloway, one brother-in-law Gene Petty and one grandson Patrick D. Pirtle.

The family will hold a private memorial service. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
