Vera Linman

Vera Linman, 83, of Odessa, TX, passed away on December 23, 2016 in Odessa, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CST on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Chapel at the Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with Jimmy Braswell of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, with whom arrangements are made.

Vera Linman was born Vera Jeffrey in Austin, TX, to James Fred and Minnie Jeffrey. She was educated in the Austin public school system and earned a degree from the University of Texas. She married Oscar Joe Linman on July 11, 1959, in Rosedale Baptist Church in Austin, TX. She worked as a teacher in the Odessa public schools for the bulk of her professional life, teaching both English and Spanish at several schools in the Ector County Independent School District.

Vera is preceded in death by her brother, James Fred Jeffrey, Junior, and by her sister, Isabel Jeffrey.

Vera is survived by her husband, Oscar Joe Linman, her son, Andrew Linman, her daughter-in-law, Vijayalakshmi Linman, her sister, Elizabeth Jeffrey, and the many friends, extended family members, and students whose lives she touched.

The family of Vera Linman wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of the Buena Vida nursing home of Odessa, which cared for her in her final days, and to the staff of Medical Center Hospital.
