Verna S. Headlee of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at home surrounded by her four children.
She was born on April 29, 1932, to Jane Potter Schulte and Joe Schulte in Jacksonville, Texas.
Memorial service will be officiated by Donnie Williams at The Bridge Church on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Recently her 90th birthday was celebrated with her large, extended family. Verna was an active and proud member of AA as well as a sustaining member of the Junior League. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Art Museum, Shrimp fest. She was a homemaker and loved cooking for her family. Special favorites were her sweet pickles, tuna salad, shrimp salad and banana pudding. Most treasured were times when the family gathered to celebrate.
Verna is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Ann Yates.
She is survived by her children, Lisa H. (Joe) Zuerker, Laura H. Nunez, Linda H. (Kenny) Freeman, and Emmet Headlee. Also, her thirteen grandchildren, Meghan Z. Lawlis, Caitlin Z. Burton, Elisabeth, Garrett and Zoee Zuerker, Allison N. Heath, Amber and Aubrey Nunez, Kendra F. Baxter and Kyle Freeman, Emerald H. Christopher, Brandt and Alec Headlee. Survivors also include twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and brother-in-law R.C. Yates.
Special thanks to her devoted caregivers Nancy – aka her best friend, Ola and Ana.
Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Freeman, Garrett Zuerker, Brandt Headlee, Alec Headlee, Ian Heath and Britton Heath.
