Vickie Justis Fields was born October 12, 1946 in Odessa, Texas. Music was her life as she was an accomplished pianist and vocal talent with a rare contralto range. She was music major at Gulf Coast Bible College and traveled with a trio after graduating from Permian in 1965. After college she was part of the Christi Minstrels, which became The New Christi Minstrels, and later The Dan Blocker Singers. Her life revolved around The First Church of God, its music ministry, and any person that needed help.
Vickie married David Fields on April 2, 1986. She had 3 step children Robert Fields, John fields, and Becky Fields Hershire. Although Vickie never had kids of her own, she treated all the neighborhood kids like her own and took many of them to church with her when the parents allowed.
She was preceded in death by her father Victor H. Justis, Jr. and is survived by her mother Helen Louise Justis, her husband, David Fields of Odessa three siblings Richard Justis of Houston, Dr. Daniel Justis of Odessa, and Tim Justis of Granbury, one niece, raised by Vickies mother, Kerri Justis Wise, other nieces and nephews, Richard Justis, Jr. Jolie Justis Dunham, Willie Justis, Jessica Justis, Ashley Justis Wilkins and numerous great nieces and nephews with several more soon to be born.
Vickie passed on April 10, 2010 at the age of 63 from a massive stroke and is now with her father in Heaven. A celebration of Vickies life will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 15, 2010 at The First Church of God, 2212 East 11th Street led by Wally Schiwart and Jerry Patterson.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the music ministry at The First Church of God in Odessa.
