Vinsin Phan

On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, Vinsin Khanh Phan, passed away suddenly at the age of 40 years in Odessa, Texas.

Vinsin Khanh Phan was born in Saigon, Vietnam to Calvin Phan and Tu Phan on Wednesday, April 26, 1978. In 1981, his family moved from Vietnam to Marseille, France because they were able to prove to the Vietnamese government that his father was half French. It was, and it is still very difficult to leave Vietnam when you are a Vietnamese citizen. In 1987, his maternal aunt petitioned for his family to move to the United States in hopes for a better future for him and his siblings. He grew up in Anaheim, California near Disneyland. His parents spoke fluent Vietnamese and French and did not speak English, so life was hard while the family adjusted in this new foreign country. Although he didn't grow up with many toys or the latest gadgets, he made the most of what he had. His resilience would later help him as he would grow up to become the amazing man that he was. He lived in California for 26 years until he and Mindy decided to move to Odessa, Texas in 2013. Together they flourished in six short years building their life's dreams.

Vinsin was an incredibly hard-working Finance Manager at Sewell Ford in Odessa, Texas. He loved his job and everyone he worked with. Even though he put many hours on the clock, he always had a smile every time he saw you.

If anyone ever cared for someone else, it would have to be Vinsin Khanh Phan. As a child, he was often quiet, shy, kind, and observant. He was warm hearted and amiable, and these wonderful traits came easily to him because he was someone who always made sure that those around him had whatever they needed. He loved his wife and children more than life itself. He was the man who would give you the t-shirt off his back. He was always generous of his time and always ready to lend a hand. No matter where he was or what he was doing, he would always make time for you and if he couldn't stop at that moment, he called you back soon after. He said what he meant and meant what he said.

He loved having family and friends over for dinner and sometimes karaoke. After a long day of work, he always made time for his children, sometimes even helping them with their school projects. He was the guy that seemed unapproachable, but your best friend by the end of the night. He loved his friends and became their brother. He was an amazing friend, confidant, and everyone's greatest supporter. Although Vinsin didn't enjoy cooking, he loved eating new and interesting dishes. His favorite dish was Louisiana Cajun Crawfish. He loved it so much that he could eat it every day!

His sudden passing breaks the hearts of those left to mourn him, including his mother, Tu Nguyen; his father and stepmother, Calvin Phan and Thu Nguyen; his wife, Mindy Ho; his children, Christien Vin Phan (7), Carter Vin Phan (6), Chyanne Mia Phan (5); his brother, Steve Phan; his sister, Jacqueline Phan (Francisco Casarez); his half-sisters, Kelly Nguyen (Son Nguyen) and Nga Nguyen; stepsister, Thuy Nguyen; his aunt, Lana Rolsen; and four nephews and two nieces.

Funeral with viewing will be held 2:00pm - 8:00pm on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home located at 6801 E. Business 20, Odessa, TX 79762.

My dearest brother, my heart cannot express the pain that is deep within my soul. Ever since we were kids you have always looked out for me. Even though you moved away, you always picked up the phone when I called no matter how busy you were. I don't know what I am going to do without you. I love you Khanh with all my heart.
