Virgil Jones

Virgil Buddy Jones, Jr., 83 of Midland passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in Midland. He was born to William and Cora Lee Jones on August 3, 1930 in Haskell, TX. Buddy graduated from McCamey High School and received his BA from Sul Ross State University.
He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 623 and member of the Midland Board of Realtors and Texas Board of Realtors. He was a certified appraiser and moved to Midland from Odessa in 1967 and was the Midland County Tax Assessor Collector for 18 years retiring in the early 80s.
He was preceded in death by his parents his wife, Deloris Dee Jones in 2002 a sister, Dorothy Jones Stroud in 2007 and daughter, Stephanie K. Jones.
Survivors include daughters Denise Wynn and husband, Calvin of Abilene
Megan Cortez and Armondo Cortez, Jr. of Midland 4 grandchildren, Don Harbert, Jamie Polk, Calvin Ross Winn, Jr., and Alice Cortez 8 great grandchildren and sister, Patricia Kelly and husband, Quinton of Odessa
2 nephews and 1 niece.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 24 from 46 at Sunset Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 1 PM Monday, November 25, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
