Virginia Ward

Virginia Day Ward, age 89, of Austin, TX, passed away on December 28, 2015 in Austin, TX.

Virginia was born on February 18, 1926 to James Ossie Waltrip and Cora Day (Scarbrough) Waltrip in Sikeston, Mo. She spent her childhood and attended High school in Sikeston, Mo. She married Byron M. Ward on December 30, 1945 in Sikeston. They remained married until his death in 1991. They moved to Odessa, TX in 1950. They spent many wonderful years here until she moved to Austin, TX in 1993, where she remained.

Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband, Byron Ward.

She is survived by her five children, Jeanette McAnally of Austin, TX, Barbara Bledsoe of Austin, TX, Sandy Smith of San Antonio, TX, Jim Ward of Odessa, TX, Robin Demaio of Austin, TX; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Visitation will from from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, January 1, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Kyle Rodgers officiating.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
