Vivian Evelyn Walker Shook, 85, joined her Lord on April 23, 2008, at the Mansfield Methodist Hospital, Mansfield, Texas. BRBRShe was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. BRBRShe was born February 10, 1923, in Bridgeport, Texas, to John and Elsie Walker and moved to Odessa as a young girl. She lost her first husband, Burtis Scarborough, in action with the U.S. Navy during World War II. She continued working to support the war effort and married Joseph W. Shook, Jr. in 1944, at Cape Canaveral, Florida. After the war, they returned to West Texas and lived in a variety of locations throughout the Permian Basin before settling in Odessa in 1968. She completed High School in Denver City and later attended classes at Odessa College. Vivian participated in many civic organizations including: Eastern Star, Rebecca's, and Royal Neighbors. BRBRShe is survived by her son, Colonel John E. Shook, USMC, ret. and his wife, Linda; and grandchildren, John Jr. and Aubrie Rae; her daughter-in-law, Delisse Shook; grandson, Joseph W. Shook, IV and his wife, Dee; and great-grandchildren, Damishy;on and Patrick, of Midland; and grand-daughter, Michelle and her husband, Rex Chitty; and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Cory and Cody all of Odessa; and countless nieces and nephews. BRBRShe was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Joseph W. Shook, Jr. 1989, her son, Joseph W. Shook, III. 2007, four brothers and two sisters. BRBRFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Brother Steve Brant officiating and assisted by Reverend Ronnie Newton. BRBRThe family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. BR
