Walter Poyner

Walter Leslie Poyner, age 79, a long time resident of Odessa, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 14, 2010.

Less was born June 5, 1931 in Saint Jo, Texas to Samuel Walter Poyner and Stella Bethena Poyner. He worked in the oilfields of West Texas as a welder for many years. He was a great story teller and kept his family entertained with stories of his past.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jodie Poyner daughterinlaw, Becky Poyner and granddaughter, Bailey Poyner.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Darvin Poyner of Odessa, Icy and David Kannel of Odessa, Roy Poyner of Odessa, Jimmy Poyner of Odessa, Tommy and Dawn Poyner of Meridian, Texas and Walter and Tamara Poyner of Midland eight grandchildren, Jason Poyner, Jody and Stuart Bailey, Nick Kannel, Taber White, Taylor Poyner and Gabrie Gallier and three great grandchildren

Visitation with the family will be 57 PM Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
