Wanda Beth Gortney, age 87, of Granite Shoals, TX, former resident of Odessa, TX, (for 38 years), passed away on October 31, 2017 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Wanda was born February 16, 1930 in Luther, TX to Clyde and Eula Clanton. She graduated from Big Spring High School. Wanda worked at the Crystal Café where she met her husband, James Gortney. They were married July 2, 1948. Together they had 5 children, Edna (Ricky) Lane and husband, Jerry Lane of Burnet, TX, Donna Paugh and husband, Ray of Kingsland, TX, Lanny Gortney and wife, Jamie of Odessa, TX, Pam Little and husband, Steve of Granite Shoals, TX and Laurie Michelle Gortney; 8 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; one brother, Danny Clanton and wife, Sue and many more friends and family.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, James Gortney; daughter, Laurie Michelle; grandson, Jason Shawn Cole; 4 brothers, WC Clanton, Murrell Clanton, Riley Clanton and Gerald Clanton and 4 sisters, Delora Scarborough, Alveta Szitar, Clydean Echols and Wilma Jean Alley.
Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 pm, Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 3, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
