Wanda Jones

Wanda Allene Jones of Odessa, former owner of Jones Motors (Pontiac,GMC Truck, Buick and Nissan) for 26 years, passed away on 12-14-16 in Lubbock TX.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 19, 2016 at Crossroads Fellowship Church, HWY 191 and Billy Hext Road in Odessa with David Newton officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Wanda was born in Brownsville TX to Ruby and Allen Faulkner on September 12, 1928. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1945. She married Lyndell L. Jones on October 11, 1956 in Lovington, NM. She and Lynn purchased Odessa Motor Co. in 1977 and renamed the business Jones Motors. She owned and operated the business until it was sold in 2003. She was awarded the 1996 Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce and the R.C.Hoiles Award by the Odessa American that honors individuals who exemplify the qualities of devotion to free enterprise and a sense of philanthropy. Jones Motors was listed in the top third of the National Top 500 Women-Owned Business rankings in 1999. She was a long time member of Crossroads Fellowship Church, Odessa Downtown Lions Club, Odessa Country Club and the OCC Ladies Golf Association.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lynn Jones, and her sister Thalia Tripp.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Warren and her husband, Gary Warren of Lubbock, her sisters, Joeanna Sfair of San Antonio and Sue Turner of Fort Worth, 4 very close nieces and family and her much loved Shih Tzu, Sassy.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wedgewood South in Lubbock and Accolade Hospice of Lubbock.
