Our beloved Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, Warren A. Witherspoon, age 77, of Odessa, went home to join our loving Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 4, 2011 in Odessa.
He was born September 13, 1934 in Scurry County, Texas to Alberta Witherspoon Carnes and John Calvin Witherspoon, Jr. Among Warrens many talents, he was a retired fiber optics directional driller in the technology industry, as well as an accomplished buildercontractor and finish carpenter. Warren had a knack for turning a blank piece of wood into a piece of art. Warren served with the United States Army and Reserves in active duty with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1956 to 1962 and received many honorable commendations during his service.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Alberta Witherspoon Carnes and John Calvin Witherspoon, Jr., his daughter, Cynthia Witherspoon and niece Sunday Norman Maddingly.
Survivors include his children: Johnny and Kathy Witherspoon of Cooper, Texas, Randy and Lynnette Witherspoon of Midland, Texas, Terry and Renee Witherspoon of Wolfforth, Texas, and their mother, Jeane Witherspoon of Odessa, Texas. He is also survived by his daughter, Elizabeth and Teddy Parker of Tucson, Arizona and sister, Betty Witherspoon of Odessa. He has two nephews, Trent and Rita Norman and Von and Heather Norman of Odessa. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandsons, 8 grand nieces and nephews, and 1 great great nephew.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel officiated by his son, Reverend Johnny Witherspoon, pastor of First Baptist Church in Cooper, Texas. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
