Wilfred "Bill" Myers, age 85, of Odessa, TX, passed away on November 4, 2018 in Odessa.
W.E. "Bill" Myers was born August 1, 1933 to Elmo Albert Myers and Cleo Gwendola (Loveless) Myers in Coleman, TX. He was raised on a farm until the age of 14, when he moved to San Angelo. Bill married Nell Harris, January 19, 1951 in San Angelo, TX. He went to work in the oilfield at the tender age of 17. He worked his way up to tool pusher with several companies. He worked for MWL Tool and Supply as a down hole supervisor for several years. Later he became owner of Helco Fishing Tools. He then bought 3 rigs and became president and general manger of Myers Drilling Co. He was a director of the Oil Show up until the time of his death.
Bill was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church for over 50 years. He served as Deacon, also serving on several committees, including cooking for men's prayer breakfast with so many good friends. On Tuesday's he had prayer lunch and 42 with several buddies.
Bill retired from work in 1992, but always had a project to work on. He and Nell traveled to several countries with special friends. One of the highlights of traveling was going to Israel with his pastor and being baptized in the Jordan River. He also loved boating, fishing and playing with his grandchildren at their lake home in Granbury, TX. He was loved by all and will be missed so very much.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Elmo A Myers and Gwendola Loveless Myers; 3 brothers, Owen Myers of Coleman, TX, Buster Myers of San Angelo, TX, and William Myers of San Angelo, TX, and sister, Nelda Avant of Goolbusk, TX.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Nell Myers; 2 daughters, Linda Holcomb and her husband, Charlie of Midland, TX, Cindy Ward and her husband, Tommy of Odessa, TX; six grandchildren, Heather, Angel, Sunshine, Billy Joe, Mary and Rachel; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Theola Harding of Blanket, TX.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Copeland of Crescent Park Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Rick Henegar, Michael Hufford, Blythe Bales, Billy Joe Ward, Coy Briley, David Turner and Jerry McKay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crescent Park Baptist Church.
