William Michael Bill Beauvais, 59, of Lubbock, formerly of Midland, returned home to the Lord Saturday, June 21, 2008 after a brief illness with his immediate family attending his side. BRMemorial services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Larry Hood officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be at 10:15 AM Wednesday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel.
Bill was born on July 10, 1948, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Ralph J. and Mona Ruth Beauvais. After his father passed just prior to the Korean War, Billy's mother married Curtis Callaway, an engineer with Mobil Oil, in 1956. Their family then moved to Morgan City, Louisiana in 1957 where his sister, Teressa, was born. Due to transfer, they were then relocated to Hobbs, New Mexico, where Bill finished his high school education graduating at Hobbs High School. He went on to complete his education with a Bachelors of Business Administration and, later, a Masters degree in Mass Communications from the University of Texas Tech both with honors.BRBR
He married Ann Byford in the summer of 1969. The pride of his life was the birth of his son, Curtis Brian Beauvais. One of his greatest moments was watching his son complete a degree also from Texas Tech with a Masters in Physician Assistant studies also with honors.
Bill had a long, proud career utilizing his degree in newspaper advertising. He worked with several papers across the state of Texas, but his greatest professional achievement was a career of 25 years service with the Midland Reporter Telegram. Bill was also very active in the Midland local community. During his stay with the paper, he volunteered with several organizations most notably the following: Board of Directors, Permian Basin Advertising Federation - Officer, Texas Advertising Managers Association - President Big Brothers Big Sisters - Board of Directors, Midland United Way, Member Allocation Commission- Board of Director, Volunteer Center - Annual volunteer, Christmas in April - volunteer with the Chamber of Commerce- Board of Directors, Better Business Bureau - Board member, Ranch Rodeo.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his step father. He is survived by his loving family including his son Curtis Brian Beauvais of Dallas, brothers and sister-in-law Buddy and Siegrid Beauvais of Bryan, Texas, Bob and Kim Beauvais of Lincoln, New Mexico, Teresa and Allen Browning of Abilene, Texas, and Betsy Callaway of Midland,Texas. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews as well as his many cousins from Oklahoma.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Hanna, David Hanna, Bruce Winston, Brent Winston, and Allen Browning.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his local charity efforts with the Big Brothers and Sisters and United Way of Midland in Bill's name. He will continue to be loved, remembered, and missed.
