Walt Jones, beloved son and brother, died peacefully in his sleep while on holiday with his family in the snowy mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico on December 25th. brbrWalt is survived by his parents, Walter and Carlene Jones, and his sister, Jana Jones. He is also survived by these aunts and uncles: Johnny Woods, Syble Moore, Gene Jean Woods, Jane Woods, Mary Woods, Denny Woods, Joan Robert Davenport and Sylvia Richard Workman and many, many cousins. The family feels so blessed that God shared Walts special spirit with us for 45 wonderful years brbrWalt was a fun-loving and tender-hearted young man who would give away his personal belongings to anyone in need He was known for his funny wise cracks and for bugging his big sister. He loved to travel, play games and eat out with family and friends.brbrEven though he suffered a traumatic brain injury at 10 years of age while camping at Buffalo Trails Boy Scout Ranch in the Davis Mountains, he graduated from Sherwood Christian Academy as Salutatorian, and went on to graduate from Howard Payne University in Brownwood with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. He also completed a year of studies at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Odessa.brbrIn Odessa, he worked as a substitute teacher and with Odessa Physical Therapy. He also worked with Workforce in Austin. During the last 10 years of his life, he loved working with his dad at Jones Wellhead Valve, Inc. He could also be found assisting his mom with her antique business, Carlenes Antique Spot.brbrFuneral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Second Baptist Church with Randy Duckett and Mike Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.brbrPallbearers will be Larry Feeler, Steve Sellars, Jonathan Golden, Steve Grisham, Danny Fitzpatrick, Kenny Vardeman, Jeff Gibbs, and Mark Maxwell. Honorary Pallbearers are Brad Robinson, Chris Adkins, Darren Swinney, Tom Martin, S.L. Craighead, Carl Pendergrass, Don Seward, Harry Wilkerson, Phillip Golden, Dan Brock, Jess Sellars, and Don Woods, Pallbearer in Heaven.brbrWalter, Carlene and Jana Jones would like to deeply thank and say how much they appreciate all the friends and family members who supported, encouraged and cared for Walt during his lifes journey.
