William Mcdougall

William Chester McDougall, age 75 of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in Houston.

Bill McDougall was also known as Billy Jack growing up and known as Mac to many. He was born March 1, 1937 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Chester Jack McDougall and Ollie Edna Goehmann McDougall. He was of German descent and was fluent in the language. He graduated from St. Marys Catholic High School in 1955. Upon graduation he joined the US Army and served overseas in France and Germany from 1955 to 1958. He was in the 89th Engineer Company. He married Candace Eileen Whitmore on January 20, 1971. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years and retired August 31, 1997. He loved his family, his friends, and he loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He was a proud member of the American Legion.

Bill McDougall is preceded in death by his father, Chester McDougall and his mother, Ollie McDougall.

Bill McDougall is survived by his wife, Candy his daughter, Jennifer McDougall and her boyfriend, Tommy Vaughan of Odessa his son Will McDougall and his Fiance, Mikki, and their four children, Kelsi, Avery, Hannah and Caden of Odessa his son Mike McDougall and his girlfriend, Lynda Wright of Odessa his sister Dr. Betty Healy and her husband Dr. John Healy of San Antonio and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Friday, August 10, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Father Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the VFW.

Pallbearers will be Jennifer McDougall, Will McDougall, Mike McDougall, Johnny Healy, Jeannie Healy, Billy Wayne Arnold, and Raymond Medrano. Honorary pallbearers are Avery, Kelsi, Caden, Hannah, and Joniee.

Memorials can be made to St. Marys Catholic School of Fredericksburg, Texas the American Legion the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
