W.W. Hot Springer
William Willard Hot Springer, 83, of Odessa passed away February 20, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born November 28, 1926 in Olney, Texas to Jesse and Minnie Springer. W. W. was known and went by the nickname of Hot, which originated from his Father calling him Hotshot.
Hot was raised in East Texas, graduating from White Oak High School in 1944. He served in the Army in the Pacific Theater close to and after the end of the war. He came back to West Texas where his dad was a Superintendant for Tide Water Oil Company. He began work in the oil fields and moved into sales, where he worked for Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation and Rodman Supply Company, before finally running his own small pipe business.
He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, a brother Melvin and a sister Shirley.
He is survived by his wife Billie, son Mark Springer and his wife Lane of Midland, grandkids TJ Hale of Midland and Shawna Burch and her husband Justin Burch of Stanton and great grandchild Lanie Kate Burch. Brothers: Fred Springer and wife Karen of Rowlett, Tx, Clifford R Springer and wife Betty of San Angelo, Jim Springer and wife Wanda of New Braunfels,. Sisters: Laverne Lasater and husband Raymond of Garland, Tx, Betty Springer of Garland, TX. And 2 adoring Long Haired Dashchunds, Roxie and Annie.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed the horse races at Ruidoso and Sunland Park. He was an excellent cook and was fond of jokes and pranks with his siblings and coworkers.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Braswell officiating. There will be a visitation Monday, February 22, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to their charity of choice.
