William "Mr. Bill" Spisak

Odessa

William “Bill” Spisak, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on March 8, 2021, at the age of 70.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6801 E. Highway 80 - Odessa, TX 79762.  Arrangements are being handled by Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Bill was born in Royal Oak, Michigan to John Manley White and Fannie Christine “Chris” Williams White, and was originally named John Manley White, Jr.  Chris was remarried to Daniel R. Spisak and Bill and his brother David “Dave” were legally adopted by Daniel.  Bill was renamed and it became official in 1958.

Bill attended Redford High in Detroit, MI.  He was a Vietnam Vet and served in the Army.  He was honorably discharged and eventually moved to Texas.  In 1982 he met Carlene “Car” Wilson Matheny.  They attended Odessa College together and enjoyed Radio and TV Broadcasting.  He achieved his Associates and worked for Fox Network for many years before going to work in the West Texas Oil fields. He and Car were eventually married on June 11, 1989.  They spent their vacations with her family in Ruidoso, NM where her family owned a small vacation home. In 2005 Car went to be with the Lord and Bill bought his first Harley Davidson Motorcycle.  Bill was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer shortly after due to Agent Orange Poisoning.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Carlene Matheny Spisak; his biological father, John Manley; mother, Christine Zents; father, Daniel Spisak; and brother, David Spisak.

Bill is survived by his stepchildren: daughter, Christine Matheny & her fiancé, Terry Pierce; son, Curtis Matheny, and daughter-in-law, Christina Page Matheny; grandsons, Dylan, and Cameron Matheny; and son, Mike and his wife, Tresa Matheny; grandson, Justin Young; great-grandson, Asher Young; granddaughter, Kelsey Rae Matheny; great-granddaughter, Isabelle Page Johnson; and Grandson, Garret Matheny. He is also survived by his half siblings, Anne, Thomas & Jerry; niece, Bree (Spisak) & husband Rodney Gonzales; great-niece, Samantha Gonzales; great-nephew, Alex & his wife, Robyn Gonzales; great-great nieces, Aria & Willow Gonzales; great-nephew, Dalton & his wife, Montanna Gonzales; great-great-nephew, Brandon Gonzales; and great-great-niece, Reese Gonzales.

The family of Bill Spisak wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Erica Smith, with Hospice of Odessa, for going above and beyond in honoring his wishes for his peaceful passing.
