Willie Mcdowell

April 25, 1924 — October 23, 2012

Our loving mother, Doris McDowell, age 88, of Odessa, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in Odessa.

She was born April 25, 1924 in Magnolia, Arkansas to William L. Pearce and Willie Mae Burrows Pearce. She graduated from high school in Magnolia, Arkansas. She married V. M. Mac McDowell. She worked for Avon Products as a District manager out of Kansas City, Missouri for fifteen years when she retired in 1979. She also worked for San Angelo Schools for several years. While in San Angelo she volunteered for Lighthouse for the Blind as President, and with United Way, and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Southland Baptist church where she worked and volunteered her time and taught Sunday School.

She loved gardening, cooking and sewing. She also loved to work at her job.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children daughters, Sandi and husband Calvin Jones of Midland, Doris Ann and husband Gary Smith of Odessa, Karen Stubblefield of San Angelo and son, Karl McDowell and wife Wendy of Centennial, Colorado. She leaves eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She also leaves her companion and friend Tammy Ricks and Charlie her husband.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Brad Bennett officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at Lawnhaven Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Wade Elliott, Corbin Elliott, Buck Smith, Tommy Stubblefield, Mikey Dial and Tye Elliott.
